Obituary
JOHN HENRY GLASSON.
Death, early yesterday morning, claimed one of the best known and most prominent figures of the Orange and Milthorpe districts in the person of Mr. John Henry Glasson which occurred at a private hospital in Clinton street of which he had been an inmate for the past few weeks suffering from an internal trouble. Born at Godolphin, Guyong, 73 years ago, when his father the late Richard Glasson carried on that important property which for that period has been held in the family name, the deceased gentleman grew up to become the controlling member, and there reared a large family of 18 — twelve sons and six daughters — who, by their sterling characteristics helped to cement, if need be, their honored reputation in this locality. The name of John Henry Glasson, as far back as the writer can recall, seemed to be associated with the town and its surroundings, and, though being too far distant from the scene of activities to have taken more than casual interest in Orange and its people his heart and sympathies were always with them, and the marked progress accomplished during the days that have been at the time when deceased was numbered amongst the keen far-seeing citizens, owes much to men of such type and standing. Besides his widow, who now resides at Mosman there are left to mourn their loss six sons and three daughters, viz, Messrs. Adolphus , Augustus, and Roy (Godolphin), Ken (Bathurst), Arch and Virgil (Narromine). Mrs. D. T. Gordon, of Clinton Street, Orange, and the Misses Glasson (2) of Mosman. One son, Hamlyn, met his death in the South African war while two others, Jack and Clive, made the supreme sacrifice in the recent great world war, and Horace, another well-known son, died at his residence, "Quliton," East Guyong, two months since. The funeral takes place this morning, the remains to leave the Methodist Church, Went Guyong, at 11 o'clock for the private cemetery at Godolphin.    Link
