William Glasson of Cadira lived with his grandparents at Godolphin and was a jackeroo at Umbercollie. He eloped with his feisty cousin Mary Rowena to his half Aunt Lydia (nee Michell) in Sydney who had also eloped with William Hosie as a young girl. They were married in St Andrews Cathedral.

Classified ad in Brisbane Courier of 3 Sep 1890 says On the 6th of August, at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Sydney, NSW, by the Rev. Richard James Read, William Glasson, second son of the Rev. G. R. Glasson, of Tamworth, to Mary Rowena, eldest daughter of the late W. H. Treweeke, of Umbercollie, Queensland.

The Glasson Saga adds that William was educated at Newington College, Sydney where he was poet Laureate to the school magazine. William went on to serve in the AIF in France during WW1. He was over the age to enlist in Australia, so went to the UK and joined a British regiment.

There is Electoral Roll evidence that Richard and Mary lived apart in latter years — he in Qld, she in NSW.

There is also a question as to the mother of son William John Glasson (1924-2004).
