The Rev Francis Rowling Elder died at his home at Lindfield yesterday, in his 78th year. He was born at Richmond a son of the Rev. John Elder whose father was also in the ministry. The Rev. Francis Elder has two sons in the ministry. The Rev Francis Elder was educated at The Kings School and was captain of the school. Later he graduated Bachelor of Arts at Sydney University. He was ordained a deacon in 1878, and a priest in the following year. He was minister at a number of Anglican churches in New South Wales, his principal charges being at Picton, Castle Hill, Wollongong, Enfield and St Michael’s Surry Hills. He retired from active work about 10 years ago owing to failing health. He is survived by three sons and one daughter. The sons are the Rev Raymond Elder, of Papua, the Rev Eric Elder of Fiji, and Mr. Kenneth Elder of Sydney. Miss Joyce Elder, of Sydney is the daughter.  | ||
