Pastoralist. Educated in England and returned to New South Wales in 1865. In 1884 he described himself as a squatter of Coonamble. Owner of Maryvale and Sarsfield Pass, stations in the Wellington district.

He was a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly in the seat of The Bogan from February 1889 to June 1891 and from May 1892 to June 1894.

Had 1 daughter and 4 sons. Church of England.
