It is recorded that a Mr P J Evans JP, of Burleigh Court, opened a bazaar at Eastcombe Baptist Church on 19 July 1899.

Kelly's Directory of Gloucestershire, says of Brimscombe in 1897:

The church of the Holy Trinity, erected in the year 1839, is a building of stone in the Norman style … The living is a vicarage, net yearly value £200, including 36 acres of glebe, with residence, in the gift of Philip James Evans esq. and held since 1896 by the Rev. William Morris Butcher MA. of Hatfield Hall, Durham.
