Their marriage is the first recorded in the church — interestingly the same church Arthur would later serve as minister for 25 years. The church history records it as between Anne Rosier of Little Eltham and a farmer from Bulleen, Arthur Pickering. Ann married in 1858 (Vic BDM 2821), the same year as her mother and second and third eldest brothers, Thomas and George, died of tuberculosis at Kangaroo Ground. Harpur Trust Elementary School register (girls), Bedford shows: Ann Rosier (6) daughter of James and Elizabeth Rosier, gunmaker, Offa Street, admitted 3 September 1847. Left 26 September 1849. Both children died without issue. Florence was a painter, and painted with the Heidelberg school artists around Box Hill. Her husband died only a few years after marriage through a building accident. I appoint Mrs Ada Pardy of 3 Glen Street Hawthorn married woman executrix of this my will. I give and bequeath my silver tea and coffee service my miniature paintings of my late grandfather and my late father, and my black marble clock to Mrs Craig the daughter of my cousin Mrs Rahel Neher.
