Early in his Ministerial career Mr. Clifton was a missionary in the Pacific. Subsequently, he became associated with regular circuit work, during which period he was attached to Bathurst. In this station, owing to failing health, he could only perform his work for two years out of his term of three. Latterly, Mr. Clifton has been on the supernumerary list. He died at Ashfleld last night, having reached the age of 68. With him dies one in whom the old Methodisy-missionary spirit was only weakened by the collapse of physical powers.— [SMH obituary 16 Oct 1903]
