If George McCorkell who married Mary Torrance was this man’s brother, as seems likely, this one can hardly have been called George also. Perhaps he was John James like his son and grandson. It seems at least possible that his wife Catherine Torrens was actually a sister of Mary Torrance, i.e. that two brothers married two sisters. [JC 2004]
