On 5 Feb 1883, George and wife Katie sailed with George's brothers Adam (21yo) and James (18yo) on the Duke of Devonshire from Plymouth, England to Cooktown, Qld, Australia. They initially settled at Kobble Creek. Daughter Catherine was born in Scotland, but all other children were born in Bundaberg.

Obituary


It is with deep regret that we have to announce the death of Mr. George Pringle, which occurred at his residence, Barolin road, yesterday. The deceased, who was fifty-one years of age, was a very old resident of the Bundaberg district, having been farming, for many years in the Woongarra, and while farming the property owned by Mr. A Smith, was in charge of the experimental plot established there some years ago by Dr. Maxwell. Personally the deceased was very popular, — and his family are well known and respected, Mr. Jas. Pringle, assistant chemist at the Sugar Bureau, having been in charge of the local bureau for some time past, being a son of deceased. The funeral will leave the residence for the general cemetery at 3pm today, and to the bereaved family in common with all who know them, we tender our deep condolences in their irreparable loss.
