Was headmaster of Shebbear College, Shebbear, Devon 1847-1855.

Shebbear College is a Methodist Boys’ Boarding School, still in operation in 2015.

The youngest of the Rev. Kelly’s three sons was born at Shebbear soon after he was appointed headmaster.

The headmastership did not last. Why? Kelly’s name is omitted from the list of Headmasters in Wikipedia.

In the 1861 census of England, William Kelly was separated from the family and living as a lodger in Bristol. He was an Insurance Agent.

In the 1881 census, William Kelly aged 74 (born London) had an address of 1 Mina Cottages, Barton Regis, Gloucs., and an occupation of Commercial Traveller.

He had wife Elizth and daughter Hannah M Kelly, dressmaker, aged 28, born in Shebbear.
