Australian WW1 records show an Edgar Saul (est dob 1883) who embarked for service in Europe and gave father’s name as Alfred Saul, 154 Courthill Rd, Lewisham, England. (This address is shown in 1901 census.) UK records show an Alfred Saul, aged 0, died in 1892 in Lewisham, suggesting Alice died in childbirth. There is a record of Harry Saul (father Alfred Saul, 154 Campshill Rd, Lewisham) who joined the 12th Lancers in 1900 and served in India and South Africa. Calculated dob is Nov 1879. He stated that he had Herbert, an older brother, and Edgar, a younger brother. |
